Reotahi Snorkelling Trip

Today we had our trip to Reotahi's Marine Reserve. The weather wasn't on our side unfortunately so only group 1 got to go snorkelling. The Marine Reserve is a fabulous place for a family day trip over summer so if you didn't get to snorkel today, make a date to check it out this summer! Thank you to all parents who were able to come and help with the wild, wet adventure! Reotahi Marine Reserve on PhotoPeach

Know Water

Teresa from Know Water came into our class to educate us about fresh water on earth.  It was very interesting.  With this new knowledge we are challenged to think more carefully before we turn on the tap and as to what we put down the sink!
Did you know?!

70% of earth’s surface is water.

2% of water on earth is ice
97% of water is saltwater
1% is fresh water, most is locked underground.
0.03% of the earth's fresh water is above ground in the form of fresh rivers and streams.
Kate, Lily and Estie hold water representing the water on earth.
We brainstormed on what we put into the water

Spot the clean, fresh water!

How can we save water?
*Only use what you need.
*Wash hands in a bucket.
*Turn off the tap when you’re brushing teeth.
*Use eco products (environmentally friendly).
*Have quick showers.

*Raise money to help get fresh water outlets to communities who don’t have fresh water.

Immersion Week

We started this term with challenging activites to stimulate our experiences and ideas relating to challenge.  For 3 lunchtimes, activities were set up for us to challenge ourselves.  These activities included chess, balancing boards, handstands, juggling, shooting hoops, skipping, hoola hoops and crazy catching.  It was fun AND challenging!
